In response to COVID-19 vaccinations rolling out, some airlines, specifically American Airlines’ PSA Airlines and Frontier Airlines, have decided to resume pilot hiring this year.
As a positive sign of airline recovery, airlines are hoping to have a significant increase of air travel by the summer, thus resulting in a need for pilots. With thousands of pilot retirements on the horizon, as well as the progression of travel demand, airlines are preparing themselves for summer hiring, although no exact numbers are disclosed at this time.
“As we continue to work with American Airlines to identify our flying needs this year, and in combination with recent attrition numbers for our Pilot group, we will be initiating hiring efforts for First Officer team members,” — Keith Stamper, VP of PSA’s air operations.
