Legacy Aviation is pleased to announce three annual awards.
1. Herb Hortman Award for Aviator of the year – $1000
Many generations of aviators, currently working for the airlines, charter companies, and major corporations, as well as those instructing or just flying for fun, had their start because of Herb Hortman. Herb’s own aviation career began in the family business as a flight instructor (CFI), flying charters for numerous individuals and companies. He then went on to become a first officer for PeopleExpress and captain for Continental/United Airlines. When not flying for the airlines, Herb was running the family business at North East Philadelphia Airport. As a teacher, coach and mentor, Herb touched many lives. While instructing, he always encouraged his students to be the best they could be and to further their aviation careers. It is with this in mind and to honor “The Hortman” influence that Legacy Aviation will offer a prize of $1000 to the aviator of the year. Someone who we believe exemplifies Herb’s passion and enthusiasm for aviation.
2. Adam Braddock Award for the Best CFI of the year – $500.

The Adam Braddock award for best flight instructor, will be given to the instructor who most represent the love of flying and dedication that we share here at Legacy Aviation.
